Database systems : introduction to databases and data warehouses / Nenad Jukic, Susan Vrbsky, Svetlozar Nestorov
Boston : Prospect Press, 2021
480 tr. ; cm.

Database Systems: Introduction to Databases and Data Warehouses, Edition 2.0 is an introductory yet comprehensive database textbook intended for use in undergraduate and graduate information systems database courses. Even though it is likely that students taking a course based on this book will have already been exposed to an introductory information systems course, the book itself can also be used when no prerequisite course has been taken. The book contains all necessary introductions followed by comprehensive coverage of database topics. The goal of this book is to provide a significant level of database expertise to its readers and users. The first edition of this book has been used successfully since it was first published in 2012, and its use and adoption has continued to grow each year. Edition 2.0 contains all the relevant material from the first edition—including detailed coverage of database design, ER modeling, relational database model, normalization, SQL, data warehouse design, star schemas, and ETL—and it also introduces a number of new exercises, problems, and case studies. Edition 2.0 includes a new chapter on big data and data lakes, as well as updated appendices that include additional topics such as stored procedures, functions, and blockchain. At the end of this preface, in the section titled “What’s New in Edition 2.0,” we detail the changes and additions in the second edition.
